Scorekeeper/Flipper
- Check the antennas, inspect the game ball & distribute the flags.
- Talk to the coaches about the sub procedure prior to the start of the match:
1. One pair of subs in the zone at a time (inside the 10’ line).
3. Enter when the R1/2 directs them.
- Have the whistle in your mouth at all times during play. Blow it w/authority. Once to
begin & end play. Twice to signal a sub. Three times to signal a ball in the court. - When there are subs, have them positioned inside the 10' line (on the R2 side if
possible) If there are two subs, they are not allowed to have all four players inside the
10' line. Only two in the sub area at a time (the one going in and the one going out). - Before the game starts (and during play) be aware of the area around the court.
- There should not be anyone sitting (or lying) too close to the court. If a player chases
a ball & trips on someone, a serious injury could occur. - When R2 signals a net, R1 does not repeat signal, just signal team getting point.
- Recognize what kind of offense they are in, this will help with backrow attack calls.
- Identify floor captains to R1.
- Check lineups every game.
- Stay away from the net far enough so that you can make your signals without the net
- Be on the side of the team receiving the serve every time (to watch for overlaps).
- Don’t lean on the pole. Stand upright and be attentive.
- Mimic R1's calls, except for beckon for serve and ball served into the net.
- Do not follow the ball with your eyes as it leaves the net area. Concentrate on the

Scorekeeper/Flipper
- No more than 3 (w/libero tracker) at the table, except for those learning how to score.
- Keep bottles, etc. away from the front of the flip chart.
- When a substitution occurs the R1/2 will have the subs turn their backs to the table and the whistle will be blown twice. This alerts the scorekeeper to look over at the girls coming in. When the sub is recorded they should raise their hand to let the R1/2 know that she has it.
- Pay attention to game. Recognize “play over” situations. Insure that the scorebook matches the score. Phones are not allowed out at the table.
