Wade Wells
Meet Coach Wade!
Volleyball Experience: I started playing volleyball in Germany while in the military. After getting out I attended Montana State and continued as an outside hitter on our club team and also played grass doubles during the summer. That is where I started as a coach in the Bozeman school district. Through the years I have worked with the programs at Concordia College (MN), MSU-Billings, Montana State, Rocky, and at various high schools throughout Montana and Wyoming. When we began our club Montana Jrs. I was the coach for the 16-1 team and moved to just being the director of the program. We started as the Magic City Volleyball Club and have now become Montana Juniors. Our goal is to give opportunities to girls in order to improve in the sport. I try to find the best coaches available and provide them the resources needed to insure that the players in our program have a great experience. We understand that it’s not just about volleyball. Our club will strive to make this a fun time for your daughter as well as give them the training to better their skills and grow as a person. Favorite Coffee Order: I would have to say that a peppermint mocha would be best. |

Bill Hanser
Meet Coach Bill!
Volleyball Experience: My love for the game of volleyball began unexpectedly during my time at Carroll College, where I met my wife, Liz, a 4-time All-American. Though I was originally a football player, Liz’s love for the sport pulled me into the volleyball world. My involvement and appreciation of the game grew when we had five girls that are all volleyball players. Our four older daughters had successful high school and college careers, and our youngest is a returning All-State setter for her high school team. For eight years, Liz and I coached together at Billings Central, building a legacy of team success. In our last 6 seasons we compiled a conference record of 57-3, winning 6 divisional titles, bringing home 5 trophies from the state tournament, and winning a state championship in 2009. Though we had to step back from full-time coaching due to Liz’s health, I have continued coaching. I have enjoyed assisting our youngest daughter’s development and coaching in the Montana Juniors and Ascent club programs. Favorite club memories include second and semi-final finishes at Volleyfest with the Montana Juniors 18-U teams in 2017 and 2018. Favorite Coffee Order: Dark Roast with a Bit of Cream Why I Love Coaching: I love the game of volleyball and the opportunity it gives players to grow in a team environment. The game teaches us life lessons, and how to work with others. These skills are carried forward and I have been fortunate to see them working in the lives of the girls and now grown women we have had the opportunity to be with. I enjoy the subtleties of the game and enjoy teaching and training the fundamentals and the team aspects of volleyball. |
Hailey Carroll
Meet Coach Hailey!
Volleyball Experience: I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, and starting playing in middle school. Throughout my athletic journey, I played for both my school teams and club teams as a setter, outside and right side trying to train as much as possible. During my senior year of club volleyball, my team placed first at the Far Western Tournament, which lead us to compete at nationals. Additionally, in my senior year of high school, we finished top 10 in Nevada during our first year after moving up a division. I continued my volleyball career at Montana State University Billings, where I played as a setter/defensive specialist for five years. Throughout my time playing I served as captain for my high school, club, and collegiate teams, while playing almost every position. After completing my final collegiate season, I participated in the Adult National in Ohio. I have also competed in and won numerous adult tournaments, including events at the Big Sky State Games this past summer. Most recently, this fall, I had the incredible opportunity to play internationally in Rome, Italy, further broadening my volleyball experience. Taylor Kroft
Meet Coach Taylor!
Volleyball Experience: I have been a coach for Montana Juniors for 10 years now. Caught the bug in 2016 and have never stopped. From camps, to club, to private lessons… I have jumped into any coaching opportunity I could find! Thanks to these opportunities, I have spent years coaching year-round (and I loved it!) In high school, I had opportunities to play many different positions, most of my time was spent as a libero and a setter (with a sprinkling of hitting in there too!) This has given me insight into how different positions think, play, and need to be coached. By jumping into every coaching opportunity, I have gotten to experience coaching at the U12’s level with their excitement and new-found love of volleyball, as well as the Varsity level with their deeper understanding and the depth of strategy in the game. I also spent three years coaching with the Senior High Program which was another great avenue to grow in my coaching philosophy and be challenged as a coach! I have been helping to assist in directing the club program for the last few years and have loved to watch girls from many grow in their game and character. Over the past 10 years I have watched the program grow and develop just as much as the girls we coach, and am excited to see how it continues to do so! Favorite Coffee Order: I'm actually allergic to coffee... but I love a Matcha Latte with Oat Milk from Mazevo! Why I Love Coaching: I believe that there is many life-long skills and internal character habits that can be fostered through athletics. I enjoy the challenge of volleyball, the precise techniques that need to be taught in order to play to potential and the key mental aspect that needs to be considered when strategizing and competing. I love watching players grow. Grow in their technique, grow in maturity, grow together as a team, and grow into wonderful young women. Seeing the character growth of the athletes and the “light-bulb” moments of volleyball is one of my favorite aspects. I also love the community aspect of coaching, there are constantly things to learn from and discuss with other coaches. It really is a group effort to coach a team well! |

Kalyn Owen
Meet Coach Kalyn!
Volleyball Experience: My passion for volleyball began in middle school and continued into high school at West High and in club season as a defensive specialist. I decided to step away from volleyball my junior year of high school, but have always wanted to come back to it. When the opportunity arose a couple years ago to start my coaching career, it was a no brainer. As the assistant coach of a 16s team my first year coaching, and a head coach of a 16s team the next year, I watched that passion and love for the sport return and am excited to continue learning and growing. I was born and raised in Montana! After high school, I went to Northwest College in Powell, WY where I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Athletic Training. I then came back to Billings, where I worked full time while completing my online Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies. As well as coaching, I have a full time job as a Medical Staff Coordinator at St. Vincent Regional Hospital where I credential and privilege providers. In my free time, I love reading, camping with friends and family, and spending time with my dog, Tucker. Favorite Coffee Order: Brown sugar shaken espresso with 2 pumps of white mocha Why I Love Coaching: I love not only being able to watch the player’s love and passion for the game grow, but also seeing the players come together and bond as a team. It is truly something special. While playing a variety of sports growing up, I was lucky to have a number of coaches who had a positive impact on my life and I appreciate the opportunity to now be that influence for others. |
